We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead vehicle maintenance operations across the West Midlands.
In this role, you will ensure our fleet is maintained safely, reliably, and to a high standard of presentation. You will manage and develop a multi-skilled team, drive performance improvements, and deliver cost-effective maintenance in line with business strategy and budget requirements.
What you'll do ...
Ensure fleet safety, reliability, presentation, and compliance with all company, legal, and manufacturer standards.
Lead, develop, and support engineering teams through performance objectives, coaching, reviews, succession planning, and inclusive team management.
Drive depot performance and continuous improvement using data-driven analysis, regular performance reviews, and collaboration with Operations.
Plan and oversee all maintenance activities, ensuring effective use of labour, parts, tooling, resources, and pit availability.
Manage the engineering budget, delivering cost-effective maintenance and identifying investment needs.
Support apprentice and trainee development and ensure progression through required training.
Maintain clear daily communication, produce accurate reports, and manage conduct, performance, and attendance in line with HR requirements.
What you will need…
Strong understanding of LEAN principles (e.g., OPERATE Level 1/2, Lean Six Sigma or equivalent).
IOSH and NEBOSH qualified.
A CPC or willing and able to obtain full industry CPC.
Possesses, or can attain, a Practical Teaching Certificate (PTC).
Strong people-management skills and the ability to foster an inclusive, high-performing team culture.
A collaborative, detail-focused, and self-motivated approach.
Commitment to exemplary health and safety standards and the ability to act as a positive role model.
Accountability for achieving personal and depot KPIs.
Strong communication skills, ensuring key information is shared effectively with your team.
