We are extremely proud of our heritage, our brand and our people…
come and join us on the journey!
Transport is such an integral part of daily life, the history of National Express can be traced back to the early part of the 20th Century. Since then, we have developed an award winning service that offers our customers excellent value.
The National Express name first appeared on UK coaches in 1972, and the Company was listed on the London Stock Exchange in 1992. The Group operates in the UK, Continental Europe, North Africa, North America and the Middle East and we employ over 49,000 people and operates over 30,000 vehicles.
Whilst we take enormous pride in our ability to deliver a great service, we are equally proud of our people.
The Group has committed to pay at least 10% above the national minimum wage to it’s employees in each country it operates. Within the UK we are proud to have been the first private transport group to commit to becoming a voluntary Living Wage employer.
This means our people receive a Real Living Wage that meets the real cost of living and not just the statutory minimum.
National Express was the first UK company to sign up to the Armed Forces Covenant - a pledge to support serving personnel, service leavers, veterans and their families. We work with the Poppy Factory and the MOD Career Transition Partnership to help Service leavers and veterans find a new civilian career.
The National Express Foundation is central to National Express Group's support for the wider community in which we operate in the UK.
The Foundation aims to support students with challenging personal and financial circumstances to enable them to continue with their further and higher education.
The Foundation also provides grants to charitable and community groups for projects which support young people to enjoy positive and developmental activities and promote cross-community cohesion and understanding.
In July 2014, National Express’ Youth Promise was launched, helping to support young people alongside the British Youth Council.
We will offer great value travel for young people
We will help young people into work and education
We will work with the young people in the communities that we serve
We will deliver the most accessible public transport network for young people
We will showcase youth talent
We have developed our Youth Promise by partnering with a number of youth organisations, notably The Prince’s Trust and CHICKS.
The Prince's Trust offer life-changing opportunities to 11-30 year olds through skill-building, workshops and more.
Maintaining our high standard of quality (and exceeding where possible) and working with industry bodies where possible to keep our business focussed on the industry and any new developments as they materialise. Our teams have demonstrated success in a number of business and professional areas within the industry over the years winning awards across the group.
