Operations Supervisor

I joined National Express in July 2017 as a driver in West Bromwich Garage with the intention of progressing further within the business. I took the opportunity of applying for the role of Central Controller less than two years later which I was successful in securing. In this role I learn a lot day by day, which brings new experiences continuing my development so that I can use my knowledge to provide the very best service possible. I am really happy to have been further promoted to Operations Supervisor and be a part of the team that works hard to improve the quality of our services. I feel that my development since joining shows that hard work pays off but it also helped to have the support of the management team in my new role who gave me the confidence I needed.

Customer Services Advisor (CSA)

I work in a fabulous team who support each other when dealing with any incidents and in offering a great customer service. We have staff nights out which are really fun and bring us closer together as a team. There are four areas to the role of CSA including Operations Room, Control Hut, Information Desk and Platform area this means you get a good variety and the role never gets boring.

I started off as a full time employee for many years and then went part time after I had my son. The role offered flexibility for me as a young mum with a range of hours to suit both myself and the business. You gain outstanding people skills from dealing with customers face to face each day and you meet amazing people from all walks of life from the UK and the world, which is really nice. No day is ever the same.

While working in this role you get more experienced with problem solving as we often have to think on our feet and under pressure.

Assistant Operations Manager

My journey with National Express started in June 2005, I had a ticket booked to come to the UK and start my new career as a bus driver. At first, I did not speak English very well but the company arranged a language course for all drivers who wanted help.

Later in my career, training to cover traffic office duties was arranged for me, so I wasn't worried about doing the job when I was asked to cover it at short notice. This went well and so a few days later the Operations Manager offered me full training in a Traffic Controller position, which I accepted and did for 6 years. After this, I was asked to cover the Assistant Operations Manager position in the Acocks Green Garage and then I was moved to Bordesley Green, initially for 3 months but 3 years later I'm still here and really enjoying it. I have met a lot of kind people who create an amazing family atmosphere and are always ready to help.

Systems Accountant

National Express have supported throughout my studies for Association of Accounting Technicians (AAT), Chartered Institute of Management Accounting (CIMA) professional qualifications, as well as going on to complete a BA Degree in Sustainable Performance Management. This has enabled me to build my experience and knowledge to move forward in a finance role, to a job that is both fulfilling and rewarding. What I really enjoy about my job is the variety - no two days are ever the same. The camaraderie with fellow staff also makes it a great place to work.

Master Driver

As one of our Master Bus driver's, Dianne helps thousands of customers a day to get to work, and connect with family. As part of providing a transport service for the West Midlands, National Express Bus keeps vital service links open, connecting people everyday. Driving makes her feel confident and needed, and she is proud to represent females in the transport industry.

Diane has the time to spend at home being a mum, but she also has her own time out on the road doing what she loves – connecting customers.

Health Bus Co-ordinator

I was a regular visitor on the Health Bus and thought having a mobile health testing and advice service that I could access at my place of work, during my working hours was a great initiative. So when I saw the internal vacancy for a Health Bus Coordinator I jumped at the chance to apply. I was over the moon to be successful in securing the part time Health Bus Coordinator role, which I undertake along side my PCV driving duties. Both of my roles involve working with people and driving vehicles which I thoroughly enjoy. I take pride in the service I help deliver, whether it is helping employees book their Health Bus appointment or driving members of the public to their chosen destination.
